Hello! I am so glad to share this space with you and excited to have you accompany me on this journey of financial wellness.
For the better part of a year, I have been debating starting this space with the intention of sharing my experiences, rants, and thoughts about managing money and lifestyle. Given that there are several resources and voices providing financial knowledge and empowerment to millennials like myself, I was wary of being another voice on the internet, but there is a dearth of South Asian voices, particularly women in the personal finance space. Having spoken to so many friends and family members with limited access and knowledge of managing their money, investments, and making effective financial decisions, I chose to take a leap to kickstart this space and help demystify the challenges of money management.
A little bit about me: I’m Maheen and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I moved to the US almost 10 years ago after completing my undergraduate degree in Finance from Pakistan. After years of resisting it, I have grown to love the Southern slow-paced lifestyle. My passion for being financially independent and savvy about money stems from my first job as a licensed Financial Consultant. Though I now work in Tech as my day job, I continued to self learn and take a deep interest in focusing on the best ways to maximize income and make smart personal financial decisions, despite not having a ton of context and background about building wealth while achieving my goals too.
In this space you’ll find me write about my general tips for investing, budgeting, prioritizing, optimizing one’s finances, while providing coaching and discussing topics around managing money that most women-led South Asian spaces tend to avoid. I see several women, both in the South Asian community and beyond, who may not yet be leveraging the resources available to them to make smart financial choices and make their money work for them. More often than not, people just don’t know where to look to find the basic guidance they need to make decisions, as the sheer content available online is so overwhelming.
Everyone has a unique financial profile which they want to maximize in order to achieve financial independence and my aim is to help provide some guidance, resources, and initiate conversations around money in one platform so that all people are empowered enough to take control of their future, regardless of the stage of life they are at or the amount of money they make.
I can’t wait to get started and would love to hear more from all of you too about ways that I can help you plan, save, or invest better!
